What is beemans gum?

Beemans gum was first introduced in the late 19th century by the Beeman Chemical Company. It was created by Ohio physician Dr. Edward Beeman as a digestive aid, as it contained pepsin, a natural enzyme that aids in digestion.

Beemans gum was originally made with a unique flavor of pepsin and mint, giving it a distinctive taste. It was marketed as a refreshing chewing gum with health benefits.

Today, Beemans gum is still produced by Cadbury Adams, a subsidiary of Mondelēz International. The gum has a nostalgic following among fans of vintage candies and is known for its original flavor and classic packaging.

In addition to Beemans gum, the Beeman Chemical Company also produced other gum flavors such as Black Jack and Clover flavor gum, though Beemans remains the most well-known and popular.
